We get ours from PetSmart and from our Vet. I hate WalMart. Don’t even get folks here started on “Ol’ Roy” dog food.

What kind of supplies? Food and treats, or nail cutters and brushes?

Walmart has a great supply of things and I get a lot there but if its not there I go to pet smart. I wouldn’t feed “ol roy” to my worst enemy. My vet said it is the worst food ever and he wished it could be pulled off the market.

supplies from walmart is just fine, but stay away from treats and food. They carry Iams which is ok, but NONE of the other ones are any good. Also NEVER buy any flea treatment that isn’t Advantage or Frontline, it can harm or kill your pet. But toys, collars, beds, clothes, etc are all just as good as anywhere else. The best toy by far is the stuffable Kong toys and the paste stuff that comes with it. They love that stuff and it doesn’t break apart to cause any internal problems.

PetSmart and PetCO are good places to shop if they’re close to home - otherwise, local mom & pop pet stores can have some pretty good bargains.

Feed stores or ranch/farm supply stores ususally have inexpensive food, and if you pay attention to the ingredients you can get a good deal.

Wal Mart has plenty of inexpensive stuff if you’re looking to pick up food bowls, toys, collars, leashes… the quality isn’t always great, though, and they don’t have as much selection!

I use jefferspets.com or get it from my vet

yes, walmart is very good that is where i get my cat and bird feed…

petco is the best my dog loves there cookies

1. I like Wal-Mart as a company. But stay away from them in terms of dog products. Some of their food was involved in the recall. And there is a new analysis out (just starting to get some national airplay) that says that dog toys made in China have unsafe levels of lead in them. Costco with their in-house food is a better choice if you really have to go as cheap as you can. As for Petco and Petsmart, both will carry some good foods, a wide range of toys and generally be okay. But they rarely carry a good selection of six-star foods, often don’t carry the best treats (look at the ingredients–a lot of wheat) and carry some of those Chinese toys.

2. Some of the best places to get good products for dogs (toys, food) will be small, local non-chain stores that cater to performance dogs and serious breeders. How to find those? Go to an agility trial or obedience/rally-o/flyball competition. And ask the competitors: where do you go? Or find a dog trainer and ask that person.

3. Check out the food analysis site below. It will give you the info on dog food. You can use that to determine how good the store is (does it carry some of the Six-Star grades of dogfood or not). Some really good dog food you can get directly online, others you have to go through distributors or stores. I feed my dog Solid Gold “Barking at the Moon” and Innova Evo. I alternate food to help avoid food allergies. Both are six star grade foods–top of the line. Whatever food you get, avoid foods that use wheat and corn (both are strong allergy sources for many dogs plus they provide empty calories) and look for a food with high protein and high fat (dog’s dietary needs are different from humans). For treats, you can’t go wrong with Zukes. Their “mini-treats” are a hit with every dog I know and they’re the right size (most dog treats are way too big–get something about the size of a pea).

4. Clean Run is a website for serious agility competitors. They don’t have food but a lot of equipment, toys and training items. Most sites have a wider range but the only stuff CR carries is top notch, tested by serious competitors and there is nothing cheap, crappy or mediocre there.

5. There are a couple of good sites for toys and equipment and I’ve listed them below if you want to go online. Frankly, if you find a good local source I suggest you do that over online. It’s not that online sites are bad, but you can bring your dog to the store and that’s good socialization. Plus, a good store will problem solve for you. They’ll talk about why they like one type of crate over another or which toys they’ve had the most success with or tell you about a great local trainer.

wal mart no you have to educate yourself to get the one that suits you and your dogs needs
factors like animal testing (iams&beagles)– not good
a lot of the toys have glue also look at the label to see were it comes from
there are very good quality treats and food of different kinds at cosco cant beat the price

I don’t recommend Wal-mart. They kept recalled dog & cat food on the shelves after knowing about the recall and continued to sell toys recalled for high lead content after the recall. I don’t buy any pet supplies from them. I either go to Petsmart or if I have a large order I go to Petedge.com they have a minimum order of $60 or they charge about $6.00 stocking fee for orders under $60. Or I go to Jeffers.com. They have no minimum order requirements and also have excellent prices.

A variety of places.
I get stuff at Wal-mart,PetSmart, the feed store,Drs.foster and Smith and Jeffers Pet.I’ve also found good stuff at the tractor supply stores.

i do not shop wal-mart, i hate it. if you need pet supplies, try the local…. pet stores!!!! there are a varity of stores to choose from, along with web sites that sell great supplies. ryan’s pet supplies, and pet-edge are 2 of my favorite online stores. other stores to try, feeders supply, superpets, petsmart, and petco. the prices are a little higher, but not by much. the best thing about the pet stores, you can take your dog into most stores. i find shopping more pleasureable because most dogs{and the owners} are better dressed, cleaner, and have better manners than those that shop the..low-class retail stores. i worked at that place, and i know that they are not the best company to work for, so i dont shop there either. please think about the pet food you buy also, paying a little more for a better food, you will see a difference in you dog. always check the labels, most dog food that is cheap contains sugar or corn syrup {twinkies for dogs} or mostly corn. get a dog food with the #1 ingred. listed as a meat product. just for the record, i do not approve of 75% of the dog food out there, for the corn and sugar problems.
